HTC One M9+ revealed: This is the phone we’ve been waiting for

The HTC One M9+ is finally official, though the company says it won’t be launching in the U.S. or Europe. The powerful new phone was unveiled in China on Thursday, and packs all the latest specs we wish were included with the flagship One M9.

That includes a 5.2-inch 2K display, a 20-megapixel Duo Camera setup in back, a 2,840mAh battery, a built-in fingerprint reader with multi-directional sensors, and a 2.2GHz 64-bit MediaTek Helio X10 core processor. The HTC One M9+ also gets the same UltraPixel front-facing camera, BoomSound speakers and HTC Sense 7 softwareas its smaller counterpart. It comes in the same three color options and features a near-identical metal design.

Unfortunately, HTC says it has no plans to launch the One M9+ worldwide anytime soon, though it’s possible that could change if enough people express interest in the beefed up smartphone. The company hasn’t revealed a price or an official release date either, but it shouldn’t be too long before the device is available in China.

For now, the rest of us are likely stuck with the regular HTC One M9. It’s still a solid smartphone, but it’s tough knowing there’s a better version just out of reach.
