When Samsung introduced the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge during Mobile World Congress earlier this year, the company admitted that it made some missteps in the past, and that it hadn’t always listened to what customers want. Those missteps had led to a decline in sales, and forced Samsung to rethink the 2015 flagship. Recent comments made by a Samsung executive suggest the smartphone is an early success and that sales are outpacing what the company saw with the Galaxy S5.
“Sales of the S6 and S6 Edge are meeting our internal target,” an unnamed Samsung executive told The Korea Times.”S6 sales will clearly be higher than those of the S5. Samsung will aggressively promote sales in our target markets.” The remarks suggest that Samsung’s Galaxy S6 sales aren’t as disappointing as earlier reports suggested.
The Korea Times said Samsung is expected to reveal official Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge sales figures on June 3, just two days from now. Those figures will give us a much better indication of how well the new flagship smartphones are faring compared to last year’s Galaxy S5, and Samsung’s stiffest competition: the iPhone 6.
