Xperia Z5 looks like a real beast in first big leak

Sony’s smartphone lineup is a bit messy right now. In the past few months we’ve seen it unveil the Xperia Z4, then the Xperia Z3+ and finally the Xperia Z4v. Thankfully it looks like the company may have a fix on the way in the form of the Xperia Z5, its next superphone.

A new report from TechnoDify claims the Xperia Z5 will launch this September with some serious hardware, though it could be limited to Japan at first. The device apparently packs a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, a massive 4,500mAh battery and a fingerprint scanner. Otherwise, it should offer a similar industrial design to the Xperia Z4, which still looks good even if it’s getting a little stale.

As for the camera, Sony’s allegedly sticking with a 20.7-megapixel shooter. The phone will also get an upgraded CMOS sensor, which should mean improved photos and video.

The Xperia Z5 won’t launch for at least a few more months, though the company may already have a few variants in the works. TechnoDify adds that an Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Ultra are on the way as well. It’s unclear when these models will launch, though Sony may be racing to offer a complete family after stumbling earlier this year.
