Speaking on Apple’s fiscal third quarter earnings call on Tuesday, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that Apple has seen the highest switching rate from Android that it has ever measured. In other words, Cook claims that more people are moving from Android smartphones to the iPhone than ever before.
Apple said its iPhone unit growth in China increased by 87 percent, which might have been one of the big markets for Android switchers, where Android is particularly popular. Apple’s third quarter iPhone sales were a record for the company, with 47.5 million iPhones sold, though even that figure failed to meet Wall Street’s expectations for unit sales.
Apple’s stock took a hit after hours on Tuesday, likely because of the aforementioned iPhone sales miss, but this rate of conversion is good news for Apple.
